Where's That Jacket From??

I keep getting asked where this jacket is from, even though I know I Tweeted about it. Why isn't everyone on Twitter with me??!!

It's from Gap and it's called the "moto jacket.".

Funny story about this jacket- The hubs went shopping with us one day and I pointed at it and said how much I loved it, but that it was $298 and I would NEVER spend that on a jacket. My friends even make fun of me because I have major anxiety about spending money on myself, or anyone else but Mia really.

He told me to try it on anyways so I thought "what the hell...why not?" I put it on and immediately decided it was the most flattering and perfect jacket I had ever put on and decided I couldn't not buy it, but I was going to wait until Wednesday because Gap was doing those Wednesday 40% off things.

I forgot to go on Wednesday and then again the following Wednesday and by the time I remembered, it was sold out of my size at all Gaps in Las Vegas. BUMMER. On Black Friday they did 50% off the entire store, so I went at 6am to get one, thinking the one in SAn Francisco area would have it. NO! No stores had one!! I called every store and even the ones in NYC and LA (if another Gap in another state has what you're looking for they will ship it to you for $6) and it was gone.

So imagine how excited I was when I opened a big box on Christmas morning with the jacket inside! Hubs bought it the next day after I tried it on in the store. (love him!) I was thrilled, but I also felt guilty because it was so expensive. I knew it was probably on sale by now and that Gap was offering 40% off sale prices so I tried to find another one and return mine so I could get the discount. I know that makes me sound really cheap, but I am cheap, and so us the hubs which is why I couldn't believe he bought it for me.

I finally told him to just return it because I couldn't justify the price. After he did his best at trying to make me keep it and forget about how much it cost, and I wouldn't budge, he returned it. BOO!

But then on my birthday I opened another big box and there was the jacket again! He found another one in my size and bought it and returned the old one (I never wore it and the tags were on), and the final price was $107!!! I still felt guilty about a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR jacket, but he told me to stop being crazy and to put on the jacket.

And I did and we went to Serendipity and had ice cream.

It's sold out online, but I saw them on eBay for $150 the other day. Just search "gap leather moto jacket."

Thanks, hubs, for being awesome.

Mandy, that jacket looks AMAZING on you. And Go hubs for finding it for $107! I totally know what you mean though, about not wanting to spend $300 on something that you ABSOLUTELY LOVE.

Plus, $107 for a leather jacket is a great price. Don't feel bad about it!

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I freak out about paying more than I should for things. Especially when it's stores like Gap that always have sales or coupons. Your husband sounds awesome!

I LOVE THIS POST!!! Although I so splurge on clothes, I can get to frugal (okay, fine, cheap) over little stuff like sales! I think I returned this one candle to Urban Outfitter three times to get it from $19.99 to $10.99 to $4.99. The gas money itself was probably not worth it and I know it's only a few dollars.... but still!

Btw, your hubby is awesome... not only once, but twice!!

I know I've mentioned this before, but your hubby is seriously flippin awesome and is a total sweetheart! I totally feel ya on being "cheap". I am the exact same way and refuse to buy anything that is NOT on sale. And even if it is on sale, it has to be on fantabulous sale. Ha! My hubby hates it, but I feel super accomplished when I think about all the savings I did!! :)

Btw - the jacket really does look amazing on you!!

I love that jacket - its so flattering on you! I wish I was more cheap about things - I love sales but I buy things I definitely don't need all the time so it defeats the purpose.

Your hubs wins major major points for this! And I am the same way with the money spending...I have a hard time justifying purchases over $100 when it involves clothing...its a mental thing for sure!

this makes me laugh (in a good way, I promise!) because I work at a Gap and we had only one of these jackets (a small) FOREVER. We never actually got it in stock, but this one was a return. One lady almost bought it, but it was just a bit too big so she had me search for her size on our system. I ended up calling Denver, Little Rock, and Atlanta (I'm in Minneapolis). Nobody had it and Atlanta didn't answer! I'm glad you managed to get a hold of one! It looks great on you!

I just gotta say that I love reading your blog. I'm a fellow WB friend... (sn: yrret107) Someone mentioned how they follow your blog. I clicked and I really enjoyed reading your posts. The one they told me to read was your pregnancy ordeal. LOL. Yeah, me and the hubs are hoping to start TTC by the end of the summer so I'm all set for the baby stories. Oh, also, I never understood why people follow blogs... until your blog. I don't check everyday but if I have time, I'll remember to check out your blog.
